Klaus Overmeyer, UC Berlin

I’ve known Eva since her euphoric involvement in the activation of the NDSM Wharf in North Amsterdam. She was a great example of convincing bottom-up urban development for our research project Urban Catalyst – self-determination, an intelligent network and full of vitality. Eva recently helped us substantially by giving us pointers at an expert workshop on the nocturnal use of the Berlin Tempelhof airport. The 380 ha airport closed in October 2008, so far no inquiries have been made for formal planning. Any skepticism about successfully activating this area through pioneering its use had disappeared after Eva’s speech on the huge opportunities provided by such a process.
